The Individual – Executive Coaching

SFB Associates Coaching Philosophy

Coaching provides a strategic resource for developing leadership critical to an organization’s success.  A coaching relationship is designed to establish and achieve specific client goals – akin to the world-class athlete who seeks intensive coaching to move from silver to gold medal victories.  Building on individual strengths and accomplishments, clients are coached to take on new challenges, build new skills, and demonstrate new behaviors.

We all undermine from time to time even the most worthwhile ambitions by failing to acknowledge what is most difficult for us to learn, for whatever reasons.  Everyone has their “blind spots”.  We regard coaching as a learning partnership, a relationship grounded more in who we are than what we do.

SFB Associates Coaching Model

Our work is client-centered; the individual client identifies and owns his or her development goals.  At the same time, our experience and skill in systemic leadership development and organizational change assures that our coaching has business impact.  A review of business objectives and challenges establishes the context for the coaching relationship.

Our executive coaching focuses more on identity than skills.  Inquiring about who the leader is has potential for more sustainable impact than addressing only what the leader does, especially in working with more experienced senior executives.  We attempt to deepen the client’s self-understanding by considering intrinsic values and limiting beliefs as a powerful resource for personal change and transformation.
