Can cultural change produce fewer dry wells?
Exxon Mobil Exploration Company now has a practice of "collective inquiry" in their organization. Their experience offers evidence that organizations can become creatures of new habits! "Collective Inquiry" is a meeting protocol now used by their leaders to signal explicitly a meeting designed to promote curiosity about technical issues that have enormous consequences. Learning is given priority over deciding in these meetings. Curiosity is expected and encouraged. The results of this cultural change have been tangible, including fewer dry wells drilled.

Culture as competitive advantage
At SFB Associates, we stake our business on the principle that an organization's culture IS the one true source of competitive advantage. We believe that high performance cultures can be developed and sustained. We also all know that politics exist in every organization and affect the individual and the organization's ability to perform. The Politics of Creativity is a framework of learning for RD&E leaders, regardless of position, designed to address the often "undiscussable" topics that prevent high performance. We work in four domains of inquiry, learning and action:

Four Domains
Pacing Productivity - understanding performance stressors and motivators
Capitalizing on Failure - fostering a more innovative learning environment
Managing Connections - better leveraging internal and external networks
Paying the Price - acknowledging the risks and rewards of being "different"

We invite your organization to engage with us in the Politics of Creativity; after-all,
what organization can afford to have more dry wells? To learn more, send an email to: barb@sfbassociates.com.

We focus on helping clients develop relationship capital and political skills

Relationship capital is the sum total of all the interfaces, interactions, and interventions among and between people. It includes the tacit, often unrecognized behaviors and patterns of interaction that define and differentiate an organization's performance.

Political skills are techniques and tactics which allow people to influence, motivate, and mobilize others to achieve shared goals and objectives. The Politics of Creativity focuses leaders on the measurable impact these often over-looked attributes have on culture and, in turn, creativity, innovation, and over-all performance.
